Glossier Pop Up in Austin, TX: My experience and what I got

Glossier is a fairly new makeup company that has become trendy among teenagers and millennials. They have a minimalistic design and aesthetic that draws in crowds, and their mission draws in even more: skin first, makeup second. It is no lie that skincare products have made a rise in popularity within the last couple of years. Would you rather cake your face in makeup, get clogged pores and then have acne later? No, of course not. You want your skin to be
⬳glowing⬳.

Glossier, which started in NYC, only has one flagship store. Within the last couple of years, they have had several pop-ups around the world, Miami, Boston, Seattle, London, the list goes on. Currently, Glossier has a pop up going on in Austin, TX from October 23rd to December 8th. I recently had a college visit to the University of Texas at Austin and I stopped by at Glossier as well.

It is yo girl emilia, and I am sharing my experience with the Glossier Pop Up in Austin, TX.

The Glossier pop up is located on South Congress Avenue, kinda in the hub of all the cool restaurants and shops that tourists frequently go to in Austin. The building is sorta small, but it stands out with the huge inflatable makeup products on the roof. The whole establishment is in their signature pink, with GLOSSIER written on the side, and a retro-style sign high in the sky. They even had a food truck that served frozen ice cream!

The store is organized with several islands with different kinds of makeup products and skincare products for YOU to play with. The set up creates a nostalgic feeling as if you are playing with your mom's makeup as a kid. When I was there, there were people of all sorts of ages, asking questions about skincare, putting glitter on their eyelids and looking at all of the different colored blush.

I immediately knew that I wanted to get one of the Balm dot coms, these lip balms have had gone around the internet, and I have not stopped seeing them with the skincare bloggers I follow. After I decided which one I wanted to get, I looked at some of the other products, like the Lid Star (kinda like a liquid eyeshadow), and then I looked at the Lash Stick, Glossier's mascara. I tried the mascara with one of the sample mascara wands and HOLY CRAP! I normally hate mascara because of how it feels and how it looks, but when I tried out this one, I was so impressed. The mascara formula was light and yet my lashes looked great! Damn, I felt like I was going to fly away with the length of how long my lashes were.

The interior of the store was designed with mirrors for mirror selfies, filtered photos of makeup and lips for the *~aesthetic~*. Some sections have lights in different colors to create different ambiances for different people. There was one wall with a pair of glossy, sparkly lips with cushions placed underneath to sit at while waiting for your order or take pictures with. If you don't think I am not
going to take pictures with this wall, that is where you are wrong.

Here is my only issue. When I was ready to order what I wanted to order, I walked up to one of the staff members, who would then whip out an iPad and type in your order. That whole process what really easy, no complaints. It's just that there is no "register" where you bring up the products you want and ring it up. You order it, they prepare it in the back and then they announce your name for you to go pick up at a window. That creates this awkward time of not knowing what to do after you order it. This awkward time for me was filled with me questioning my money and just thinking, " Oh crap, what have I done." But once they called my name, and I got my big pink bag, everything was good!

My favorite part about all of this is the packaging. No matter what size your order, you were given a big pink bag that had the cartoonish logo of the Austin
exclusive Glossier pop up, and your name written on it. Inside, I found what I had ordered in a pink bubble wrap pouch, which can be reused in the future! Here's what I ordered:
-Birthday Balm Dot Com ($12 US)
It smells fantastic, and it's a really thick lip balm for those who can't seem to find a good chapstick for their lips.
-Lash stick ($16 US)
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I was shocked with how my lashes looked. I have hated mascara for a couple of years because as a swimmer, I hate scrubbing my eyes at night and then in the morning still have black residue underneath my eyes. I am excited to try out this lighter mascara that does the trick I want it to.

Inside the bag, there were also several cute stickers like, "HONK if you look good!" and an Austin sticker. Along with the stickers, there was even a skin serum sample, their Future dew serum that I will try in the future. I was very happy with the extra details.

Overall, I had a wonderful experience. I thought that the store ran smoothly and they were playing cool music that wasn't blasting into your ear while you shop. I am excited to try out my new makeup products and I am so happy that I got to check out their pop up. Here's my little recommendation to Glossier, come to Houston, people would love to have a new makeup routine that can withstand the humidity that we experience. Anyways, that was my Glossier Austin Pop Up experience, I enjoyed it!

Thank you so much for reading, I am glad that you were interested in what I had to say. Comment down below if you have any Glossier products, or if you have been to either to Glossier's flagship store or one of their pop-ups around the world! Thanks again for reading, have a great day!
